Hi, here's a little bit about myself and my photography journey :
Based in Abbotsford, BC., and travelling throughout the Lower Mainland, I specialize as an equine photographer, as well as a lifestyle family / couples / maternity photographer.
My passion for photography began in my early teen years, initially learning everything from my grandmother and striving to be as brilliant as she is. She would take me to photography courses so that we could grow together, and then we’d spend weekends out taking photos on the family farms. My passion for horses however, began much earlier in life. By the time I was 3, I was the proud owner of countless “my little pony” toys. Eventually, I put the two together to form my dream - becoming an equine photographer. My style is vibrant in colour, and I work with natural light to create bright and bold images. All of my sessions consist of a mix of posed portraits, and candid moments between you and your special equine.
My equestrian journey started out doing the hunters on a little bay pony mare named Willie, but after a few years I made the switch to the western world. Then, when I was twelve, my heart horse entered my life—her name was Angie. At first I leased her, but then I realised she and I needed to be together for the rest of her days, so I wound up buying her. We were together for fifteen years before she passed away. With Angie, we did a lot of jumping, but also dabbled in some barrels—she was my little all-around pony. During my years with her I also bought a young and green-as-grass mare I named Beverley. I still have her now, thirteen years later, and after many ups and downs—and after being retired at ten, which is a story for another day—she is now living the pasture puff lifestyle at just seventeen. But before this happened, I wound up going through with my dream of breeding, and she gave me my next hunter/all-around mare in 2017: Jolie (but we all just call her Jo). She is everything I could have asked for in a horse.
As for my personal life: I married my middle/high school sweetheart in 2022, after fifteen years of waiting for him to propose! This is our eighteenth year together now, and I wouldn’t change a thing. In 2017, we welcomed our daughter, and in present day, our little family has an abundance of cats and a love of video games. (Specifically World of Warcraft and the entire Sims franchise, but we play just about everything!)
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you who chooses me to partner with as your photographer slash personal hype person/beautifier/new friend. :)
